Elk Hunts are done in the mid-September to mid-November season. After Elk scouting throughout our territory in early September, we get an understanding of the particular areas that the desirable bulls are roaming. A 6 point bull is the legal minimum to hunt; our guides give their hearts and souls in finding the bull you are dreaming of. Where we spot these elk will depend on which territory we send you to: Dutch Creek or Toby Creek. These two territories belong to A/Z Outfitters, and are located right beside eachother. Invermere, BC is central town (for both territories) to stay at the day before your hunt.

Day one is spent riding our horses into a cabin camp, which can be an expected 3-6 hour ride through thick timber, open valleys, and rugged landscape. Once we arrive in camp, we settle in, and may even have time for an evening hunt. Our cabin camps have bunk beds with sleeping foamies. Most of our cabins do not a shower. Our camps do have a cook cabins consisting of a fridge, stove and oven.

From then on, days 2-8 are spent riding from our cabin camps to various hunting slides. You can expect early mornings riding out to glass, and finding patience for a bull to walk out into the open. Bugling is can be a real adrenaline rush- and a skill performed by your experienced guide to call the elk in.
Our elk hunts can be challenging, and physically demanding at times. However, your guide will ensure that your needs come first, and will be cautious of your mental and physical state.

These May and June Spring hunts are an amazing backcountry experience- to say the least. These beautiful black bears graze throughout the open slides in our mountainous territories in Toby and Dutch Creek. Unlike the mighty mountain goat, the black bears tend to live lower down, making for a more laid back, less physically demanding hunt.
Day one of the hunt is spent riding up to one of our main camps, which can be anywhere from a 3 to 6 hour horseback ride. Everywhere travel in our territories is done by horse- unless hiking is a better option during a stalk. We have multiple hunting spots not too far from our main cabin camps- meaning we will always be staying in a cabin. The cabins in our territory have bunk beds with foamies, and a cook cabin with a fridge, stove, and oven.

From days 2-6 the majority of each day is spent glassing at the hunting points we ride to each morning from the cabin. Unlike elk, black bears aren’t necessarily wondering at a specific time in the early morning. They generally tend to come out into the open on the warmer days, so our guides to their best to prioritize the best times throughout each day. Sometimes, days can be spent getting up early anyhow, and glassing for hours on the mountain side.

Our experienced skillful guides know where to go and what to do- but at the end it is YOUR hunt. They will customize it just for you.

Our biggest goal is for our clients to enjoy their experience. The hunt is YOURS. We do not need a set schedule or routine if you have something else you would prefer.
